SEE BETTER LIVE BETTER
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Welcome to EPSAA’s new website & to 2021
OVERCOMING ADVERSITY & MOVING FORWARD IN 2021
It is hard to believe that it has been over a year since COVID-19 made its entry in March. It has resulted in restrictions on the general public as well as acute overarching pressures on all medical professionals globally that continue today. Here in Alberta, medical personnel continue to face new demands as hospitals and ICUs filled throughout the year, threatening capacity and putting many elective procedures on hold. Now, with mass vaccinations underway, there is hope our lives will return to some degree of stability towards the end of summer.
Leaders are frequently asked to combine vision, mandate and authority. As ophthalmologists, EPSAA members are the authority on eye and vision care in Alberta. We understand all too well the importance of vision, and I hope our collective vision continues to drive us to serve Albertans well.
As the EPSAA president, I have worked with our Executive, our members, the AMA, and other physicians to maintain a degree of stability in these decidedly unstable times. As this website shows, providing the best care possible to our patients is our mandate and our inspiration.
Within the AMA, our section continues to push for better relations with Alberta Health Services to help them create and maintain a service-delivery protocol that serves medical professions and most importantly serves all Albertans. This will still be crucial when we have put COVID-19 behind us.
Thank you for your interest in EPSAA. While “Ophthalmologist” doesn’t flow easily off the tongue, and it is hard to spell, it is who we are, and helping Albertans take care of the health of their eyes is our life’s work.
And to you, Albertans: Please use “Contact Us” to send us any questions you may have. We welcome your input.
I hope this website provides useful information about what we do, how we do it, and why vision care is an important part of physical health that shouldn’t be overlooked.
